Ground Equipment; GSE) Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain and repair a fleet of specialized vehicles and equipment essential for airport operations in Benoni . You will ensure that all GSE, including baggage tractors, belt loaders, aircraft tugs, and de-icing units, are in optimal working condition. This role is critical for the smooth and efficient functioning of the airport, requiring a proactive approach to maintenance and a strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems.

You will work within a dedicated team committed to operational excellence and safety.

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a variety of Ground Support Equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent.
• Ensure all GSE complies with safety regulations and operational standards specific to the Benoni airport environment.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize operational delays.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies for GSE maintenance.

• Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, preferably with a focus on heavy machinery, vehicles, or ground support equipment .
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and performing effective troubleshooting.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain airport security clearance.
• Commitment to safety and quality in all maintenance tasks performed in Gauteng .
