Aviation Ground Equipment; GSE) Mechanic

Our client is looking for a dedicated and skilled Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join their operational team in Benoni . This position is critical for maintaining the fleet of ground equipment essential for aircraft operations, including baggage tugs, belt loaders, and aircraft stairs. You will be responsible for the routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of this vital machinery, ensuring its reliability and safety.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with various types of heavy equipment, and a commitment to operational efficiency in a fast-paced airport environment. Your work directly supports the seamless turnaround of aircraft, making this a key role in the overall aviation process.

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all GSE vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and perform necessary repairs.
• Conduct safety inspections of all equipment before and after use.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Operate specialized tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company procedures.

• Proven experience as a Mechanic, preferably with ground support equipment or heavy machinery.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver's license; a special license for operating specific GSE may be required.
• Knowledge of aviation industry standards is an advantage.
• Physical ability to perform the demanding tasks of the role in an outdoor airport setting in Benoni .
