Field Service Engineer - Telecoms

Our client is seeking a proactive and technically proficient Field Service Engineer specializing in telecoms to join their team serving the Vereeniging area. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer sites. You will diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of client services.

This is a hands‑on position that requires excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in diverse environments, contributing to the seamless operation of critical communication networks.

• Install, commission, and configure telecommunications hardware and software solutions at customer locations.
• Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing of network equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair strategies.
• Respond to urgent service calls and ensure timely resolution of issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct system testing and validation to ensure services meet performance and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, equipment status, and resolutions in the company's systems.

• Technical qualification or certification in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field service or technical support role within the telecoms industry.
• Solid understanding of telecommunications principles, including mobile networks, broadband, and associated equipment.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, test equipment, and network analysis software.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel to various client sites.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
