About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Farm Mechanization Specialist to join their progressive agricultural team based in Benoni . This role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance and maintenance of all farm machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for overseeing the selection, operation, repair, and upkeep of agricultural tools and technology, advising on best practices for efficiency and longevity.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with farm equipment and a strong understanding of mechanization principles to support productive farming operations in the Gauteng region.
- Manage the maintenance schedule for all farm machinery, ensuring timely servicing and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Oversee the operation of tractors, harvesters, planters, and other agricultural equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, performing repairs or coordinating external service providers.
- Advise farm management on the selection and procurement of new machinery and technology.
- Train farm staff on the safe and efficient operation and basic maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations related to the operation and maintenance of farm machinery.
- Proven experience as a Mechanic, Technician, or Specialist in farm machinery.
- In-depth knowledge of various types of agricultural equipment, including tractors, implements, and harvesters.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills related to mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems common in farm equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Willingness to travel to different farm sites within the region for support, with flexibility for remote reporting and planning.
