About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Electrical Grid Technician to support their operations in Vereeniging . This hands-on role is vital for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of the electrical distribution grid, ensuring a safe and reliable power supply to our customers. You will be responsible for executing field work, responding to outages, and performing routine inspections to maintain the integrity of our infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician to contribute to the essential services provided by the energy sector in Gauteng , working within a team committed to operational excellence and safety in a critical infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution equipment, including transformers, switch gear, and cables.
  • Respond promptly to power outages and service disruptions, diagnosing and rectifying faults.
  • Conduct regular inspections of grid infrastructure to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in the implementation of grid upgrades and new connection projects.
  • Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in electrical line work.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment status.
Requirements
  • National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably in a utility or distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems and safety protocols (e.g., LOTO).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, often under pressure.
  • Valid driver's license is essential, with willingness to work outside normal hours and in various weather conditions.
