Millwright

We are recruiting for an experienced and suitably qualified Millwright to join a manufacturing and production environment in the Eastern Cape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that production plant and ancillary equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently through effective mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs.

• Matric / NTC 3.
• Completed Millwright Trade Test – Red Seal preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-trade experience in an industrial manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience on production machinery and associated control systems.

Strong experience in the servicing, repair and installation of:

• Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Conveyors
• Gearboxes
• Belt and chain drives

Strong electrical and instrumentation experience, including:

• Electric motors
• Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
• Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
• Control equipment

• Medically fit and sober habits.
• Code EB driver’s licence with own transport.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, perform standby duties and work overtime, including weekends when required.

Advantageous:

• PLC experience.
• Welding experience.
• Previous experience within a saw milling environment.

• Perform effective mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs on plant and ancillary equipment.
• Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs on production machinery, control systems, electric motors, MCCs, VSDs and instrumentation to minimise downtime.
• Install and commission new plant and machinery.
• Accurately record all maintenance and repair work performed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mechanical and electrical plant and ancillary equipment on site.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
• Perform standby duties and overtime as required.
• Requisition spares and materials when required.
• Assist with the development and implementation of planned maintenance programmes.

We are looking for a technically strong and hands-on Millwright who can confidently troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, work independently and contribute to keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently.
