Apprentice Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician

Our client, a leading provider of HVAC services, is seeking motivated individuals to train as Apprentice Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technicians. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring technicians in Benoni, Gauteng, ZA , to gain essential skills in installing, maintaining, and repairing cooling and heating systems for residential and commercial clients. The apprenticeship combines practical, on-site training with classroom instruction, covering refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.

You will work alongside experienced technicians, learning to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and conduct preventative maintenance. A strong focus on safety and customer service is expected. This role requires individuals who are comfortable working in various environments and possess a strong aptitude for technical problem-solving. The hybrid nature of this role allows for flexible arrangements where field work is complemented by necessary administrative or training tasks that can be done remotely.

• Assist in the installation of air conditioning and refrigeration units.
• Learn to diagnose and repair faults in HVAC systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and servicing on cooling and heating equipment.
• Conduct system checks, including refrigerant levels and electrical connections.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines when working with electrical and refrigerant systems.
• Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Respond to service calls and assist with on-site repairs.
• Maintain accurate service records and report on work completed.
• Participate in all scheduled training and developmental programs.

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent, with a focus on Mathematics and Physical Science.
• A strong interest in mechanical and electrical systems.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Must be able to work in various conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
• Must be able to commute to the service area in and around Benoni, Gauteng, ZA for field service.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is highly advantageous.
