Field Service Technician; Broadband Installation

Our client, a prominent telecommunications service provider, is seeking a diligent Field Service Technician to join their team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga
. This role is critical for the end-to-end installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of broadband services, including fiber optic and DSL connections, directly at customer premises. You will be the face of our client, ensuring customer satisfaction through professional service and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with telecommunications equipment, a strong understanding of network connectivity, and excellent customer service skills.

This position requires significant travel within the Nelspruit area and surrounding regions. Your primary goal will be to deliver reliable internet and communication services, ensuring that customers experience optimal performance. This is a hands‑on role that requires physical dexterity and the ability to work independently.

• Install, activate, and troubleshoot broadband services, including fiber optic cables, modems, routers, and related equipment.
• Perform diagnostics on customer premises to identify and resolve connectivity issues.
• Educate customers on the use of their new services and equipment.
• Conduct repairs and upgrades to existing customer installations.
• Ensure all installations and repairs are completed according to company standards and safety regulations.
• Manage inventory of parts and equipment in your service vehicle.
• Maintain accurate records of service calls, work performed, and equipment used.
• Provide feedback to management on common issues and potential service improvements.
• Adhere to a schedule and manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in field service, telecommunications installation, or a related technical role.
• Proven experience with installing and troubleshooting home networking equipment (routers, modems, Wi-Fi).
• Understanding of fiber optic cabling principles and basic termination techniques is advantageous.
• Familiarity with DSL, Cable, and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technologies.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain a professional appearance.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends, as required.
