Industrial Controls Technician

Our client, a leader in industrial automation, is seeking a proficient Industrial Controls Technician to join their team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. This hybrid role requires an individual adept at installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated control systems in manufacturing and processing environments. • Install, commission, and maintain industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and VFDs.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software issues within automated systems.
• Perform programming and configuration of PLCs and HMIs from various manufacturers.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system designs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on control systems to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all installations and modifications comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to identify and implement system improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of control system configurations, logic, and maintenance records.
• Respond to control system failures and provide timely resolutions.
• Stay current with advancements in industrial automation and control technologies.

• Diploma or NTC in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial controls, PLC programming, and HMI development.
• Proficiency with PLC programming software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000).
• Experience with HMI/SCADA software (e.g., WinCC, Factory Talk View).
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, motor controls, and variable frequency drives.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing or industrial setting in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
• Good communication skills for interaction with engineering and operational teams.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Valid driver's license.
