Dr Jonathan West is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Microfluidics whose research is focused on clinical translation and technology commercialisation to benefit patient care. Jonathan has patented a microfluidic method for understanding platelet activity with potential to predict thrombosis risk and associated heart attack and stroke risk. These are poised for commercialisation in readiness for clinical impact. Please contact Dr West( ) if you have any queries regarding the role or would like further information.
The Role
The research involves the development of a sample to result prototype for analysing platelet activity for the diagnosis of patients at risk of thrombosis leading to heart attacks and strokes. Microfluidic and system engineering methods will be used. This activity will run in parallel with commercialisation activities by discussion with stakeholders for problem validation and obtaining performance requirement definitions.
