We are looking for a confident, self‑motivated Carpenter to join our Housing Operations Responsive Repairs Team. This is a hands‑on role delivering essential property repairs and maintenance services to residents across the city. If you take pride in your workmanship, enjoy problem‑solving, and are comfortable working across a variety of trade‑related tasks, we'd like to hear from you.

About the Role

You will carry out a wide range of construction and property maintenance activities within the Southampton, helping to keep residents' homes safe, functional, and well maintained. This is a varied position that requires flexibility, strong practical skills, and a proactive approach. In addition to carpentry duties, you will be expected to undertake small works in other trade disciplines where required. You'll be part of the Responsive Repairs team, working in occupied homes and liaising with residents on a daily basis — professionalism and customer focus are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out carpentry repairs and maintenance in residential properties
  • Undertake minor works across other trade disciplines as needed
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and safely
  • Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and supervisors
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations
What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Practical understanding of the construction and property maintenance industry
  • Ability to multi‑task and work across varied repair jobs
  • Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in property maintenance
