Job Summary
The Pipe Welder TIG/MMA joins, repairs, and fabricates pipe and tube systems using tungsten inert gas (TIG) and manual metal arc (MMA) welding processes. This role ensures the integrity and quality of all welds, meeting safety and technical standards in various industrial environments.
Location and CompensationLocation:
Fawley.
NAECI Rates Apply - Overtime available.
Bonus 80p per hour worked.
Right to work in the UK required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Select proper welding tools, materials, and techniques for each job.
- Prepare pipe surfaces by cleaning, cutting, and aligning materials.
- Perform TIG and MMA welding on pipes made from ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Check completed welds for quality, strength, and durability.
- Inspect pipe welds using visual and mechanical methods to verify compliance with standards.
- Repair welds and joints when necessary to eliminate defects.
- Follow safety protocols and wear protective equipment to prevent accidents.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and a clean work area.
- Document work activities and maintain accurate records of welds.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other trades as required to achieve project goals.
- Move and position pipes using manual or powered equipment.
- Comply with industry codes and site-specific procedures at all times.
Trade Test to be carried out prior to start in Tipton, West Midlands.
Required Qualifications- Completed secondary education or equivalent.
- Formal training or apprenticeship in pipe welding or a related field.
- Proven experience in pipe welding using TIG and MMA techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of pipe welding standards, codes, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
- Valid welding certifications or qualifications according to industry or site requirements.
- Effective time management and teamwork skills.
- Clear communication skills.
