Pollution Response Technician

We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water! We are recruiting for a number of Pollution Response Technicians covering the whole of Hampshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a new career with us here at Lanes Group.

  • Job Type: Permanent, full‑time
  • Hours:

    5 days on, 2 days off (45 hours per week, including weekends)
  • Salary: £30,500 per annum
  • Benefits: 21 days holiday (plus bank holidays), birthday off, health cash plan, onsite parking, auto‑enrolment pension scheme, enhanced maternity and paternity, friendly working environment.

We operate 24/7 and therefore your work schedule will be flexible, including weekends and on‑call rota. Full training, PPE and company equipment will be provided to ensure our Pollution Response Technicians can undertake work to Lanes’ high standard of operation.

Responsibilities
  • Act as first responder to all pollution related incidents/jobs raised.
  • Oversee and supervise any pollution site, ensuring safe, efficient and effective management of the incident.
  • Initiate initial mitigation of pollution to minimise impact on the environment and wildlife.
  • Lead the investigation to establish the cause of the pollution.
  • Plan and organise ongoing mitigation or follow‑on works required.
  • Oversee and facilitate work required to resolve the issue quickly and to the correct standard, including facilitation of external contractors for remediation works to restore services.
  • Ensure all evidence is captured to support the investigation of a pollution incident, or to demonstrate that no pollution has occurred, ensuring class‑leading data and image capture in Big Change.
  • Deliver world‑class customer service and manage stakeholders such as the client, the Environment Agency and local authorities.
  • Maintain a no‑compromise approach to H&S practice while carrying out works.
  • Carry out risk assessments and adopt a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
  • Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.

The ability to work safely to quickly diagnose and deliver practical and efficient solutions to attain the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

About you

The ideal candidate will be hardworking, respectful and compliant with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g., NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage. You must have a full UK driver’s licence.
