Estate Maintenance Multi‑Skilled Tradesperson
The closing date is 26 July 2026.
We are looking for a qualified maintenance tradesperson with an electrical or mechanical bias to join the Estate Maintenance Service across Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare Facilities. A current UK manual driving licence is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain highly complex healthcare facilities to a high‑quality standard, ensuring compliance with required standards for safety of patients, visitors and staff.
- Undertake a wide scope of work ranging from day‑to‑day routine maintenance to complex, non‑routine activities, requiring intermediate/high theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Carry out diagnostic fault‑finding investigations leading to repair work, using analytical cause and effect techniques and reading engineering system drawings.
- Act as Competent Person (CP) for systems such as LV/HV Electrical Systems, Lifts, Medical Gas Pipelines, Water and Ventilation Systems and provide technical advice to staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Liaise and collaborate with external contractors and consultancies, requiring independent thinking and decision‑making within the limits of the role.
- Work primarily on a shift pattern with participation in an emergency on‑call rota and opportunities for overtime.
Qualifications:
- Engineering background from a time‑served apprenticeship, a City & Guilds Level 2
* or 3 NVQ / Diploma, or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline. - BS7671 (Current Edition) of IET Wiring Regulations.
- Ability to fault‑find, diagnose and rectify electrical faults.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Current driving licence.
Experience / Capabilities:
- Continuous ongoing assessment and on‑the‑job training to maintain competence.
- Flexible, reliable, and conscientious attitude to work.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed technical instructions.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975; a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.
Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year (pro rata for part‑time hours).
