Practical Nursing Instructor
The Practical Nursing Instructor is a Nights and Weekend faculty position at the Southaven Campus for the Practical Nursing Program. The Instructor provides students with instruction of the highest standards, evaluate student progress, assist in preparation of program documents and policies, assist in activities furthering the work of the institution, communicate necessary information to students, provide academic advice to students, serve on standing and ad hoc committees, and assist in maintaining the uniformity of the Practical Nursing program on all campuses.
This is a 12-month faculty position reporting to the Director of Practical Nursing.
Qualifications
Must be a graduate of an approved School of Nursing. Must have an unencumbered RN license in Mississippi and must:
- Hold a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Have three years clinical experience working as a RN; or have two years' experience as faculty in a nursing/allied health program.
- Satisfy clinical agency requirements, i.e.: background checks, immunizations, CPR, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to take initiative to solve problems.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.
- Must be a "quick study" to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the Practical Nursing Instructor regularly required to do the following:
- Stand for long periods
- Talk, hear, view, and assist students
- Effectively communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, & live chat
- Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
- Occasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds
