Omega Foundation Services, Inc is looking for a Field QC Technician(s) to join the team!

Job Type: Full-time

Position Summary

The Field QC Technician is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and documenting construction activities to ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, project requirements, and applicable standards. The position works closely with project management, field supervision, contractors, inspectors, and testing personnel to identify quality issues, verify corrective actions, and maintain accurate quality-control documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily quality-control inspections of Civil and Heavy Civil construction activities, including earthwork, grading, excavation, drainage, concrete, utilities, paving, and related site work.
  • Verify that materials, workmanship, and installation methods comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Review construction activities and identify deficiencies, nonconforming work, or potential quality concerns.
  • Document inspections, test results, deficiencies, corrective actions, and daily quality activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor required field testing, including soil compaction, concrete testing, aggregate testing, and other applicable quality tests.
  • Verify that materials are properly received, stored, handled, and installed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and applicable inspection requirements.
  • Maintain inspection reports, checklists, testing records, material certifications, and other QC documentation.
  • Communicate quality issues to the appropriate project personnel and assist with developing and tracking corrective actions.
  • Perform follow-up inspections to verify that identified deficiencies have been properly corrected.
  • Support preparation of quality-control reports, turnover documentation, and project closeout records.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, quality meetings, and coordination meetings as required.
  • Promote safe work practices and immediately report unsafe conditions observed during QC activities.
  • Perform other quality-control duties as assigned by the QC Manager or Project Manager.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or construction-related education preferred.
  • Experience in civil construction, quality control, inspection, or construction materials testing preferred.
  • Knowledge of civil construction practices, plans, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify construction deficiencies.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and complete inspection documentation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an active construction environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
  • Valid driver's license may be required depending on project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with earthwork, concrete, utilities, drainage, roadway, or site-development projects.
  • ACI, NICET, ICC, DOT, or other applicable inspection/testing certifications.
  • OSHA safety training or other construction-related safety credentials.
  • Experience with project-specific QC plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and quality documentation.
  • Familiarity with applicable ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, or project-specific standards.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk construction sites and access uneven or unfinished terrain.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and perform field inspections for extended periods.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must follow all site safety requirements and project-specific procedures.
Performance Expectations

The Civil QC Technician is expected to maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, safety, documentation, and communication. Quality concerns should be reported promptly, and corrective actions should be documented and verified before work is accepted, subject to the project's approved procedures and authority structure.

Position may require travel away from home.
