Civil Multi-Craft Carpenter(s)

Job Summary

The Civil Multi-Craft Carpenter performs a wide range of skilled carpentry and construction tasks in support of heavy civil and infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and dismantling concrete formwork, structures, temporary facilities, and other carpentry-related components while assisting with various construction activities as needed. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, adaptable, and experienced in multiple construction trades.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Construct, install, align, and remove concrete forms for foundations, footings, walls, columns, bridge structures, retaining walls, culverts, and other civil structures.
  • Build and maintain temporary structures including work platforms, shoring, bracing, barricades, handrails, stairs, and access systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and layout information.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, plywood, steel forms, and other construction materials.
  • Install embeds, anchor bolts, block-outs, expansion joints, and other components required for concrete placement.
  • Assist with reinforcing steel placement, concrete pours, finishing preparation, and stripping operations.
  • Perform layout work using measuring tools, levels, lasers, string lines, and construction surveying equipment.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment used in carpentry and construction.
  • Assist with excavation support systems, trench boxes, and shoring installation as required.
  • Perform general construction duties including demolition, material handling, rigging, and site cleanup.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and project‑specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with superintendents, foremen, equipment operators, laborers, ironworkers, and concrete crews.
  • Perform other construction‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of carpentry experience in heavy civil, industrial, or commercial construction.
  • Experience with concrete formwork systems, including wood and modular forms.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and safety practices.
  • Ability to operate construction hand and power tools safely.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

  • Manual dexterity to safely operate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Working Conditions
  • Outdoor construction sites with exposure to dust, mud, noise, vibration, and changing weather.
  • Frequent work around heavy equipment, cranes, excavation activities, and concrete operations.
  • Overtime, weekend work, and travel may be required depending on project needs.
Preferred Certifications
  • OSHA 10‑Hour or OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Competent Person Training (Excavation and Trenching)
  • Scaffold User Certification
  • Aerial Lift Certification
  • Rigging and Signal Person Certification
