Vocational Specialist
The Vocational Specialist is responsible for the overall implementation of Vocational Services for students in their assigned team. This responsibility includes being a member of the IEP team, developing the IEP vocational section, attending assessment meetings, implementing and monitoring progress on student vocational objectives, overseeing in-house vocational jobs, volunteer and community sites, use of applied behavioral analysis techniques, and student advocacy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Train teachers and job coaches on vocational duties
- Maintains assigned school jobs
- Maintains and oversee assigned community paid and volunteer job sites
- Collaborates to schedule in-house job coverage for students
- Participate in Vocational department projects and department meetings
- Communicates effectively with all other school personnel
- Train and oversee job coaches at employment sites to ensure consistent and effective vocational programming.
Student Responsibilities:
- Attend assessment meetings and IEP for caseload/develop CPL/vocational objectives/monitor student progress
- Develop vocational profiles and vocational assessments
- Implement vocational training for students on assigned teams
- Maximize independence and integration of students at worksites
Education/
Experience:
Enrollment in a Master’s Degree Program required. This position is not compatible with the practicum requirements for the Simmons master’s program. Knowledge and experience in the use of applied behavioral analysis techniques.
