An experienced scientific leader is sought to drive the development and optimization of cell line and microbial expression systems for therapeutic protein production. This individual will lead technical programs, mentor scientific staff, and contribute to strategic planning while playing a critical role in advancing innovation and operational success.
What You'll Do Scientific & Technical Leadership- Lead the design and execution of experiments supporting mammalian cell line and microbial strain development
- Oversee workflows including vector construction, clone screening, transfection, media optimization, stable cell line generation, and cell banking
- Guide protein characterization efforts utilizing ELISA, PCR, SDS‑PAGE, Western blot, HPLC, and related techniques
- Interpret complex datasets and translate findings into actionable development strategies
- Drive multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and timelines
- Contribute to long-term scientific and operational strategy
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and scientific literature; assess applicability and potential impact
- Support preparation of CMC documentation for regulatory submissions (IND, BLA)
- Develop and maintain SOPs, protocols, and technical reports in compliance with industry standards
- Ensure proper documentation practices and data integrity across all activities
- Mentor and develop junior scientists while fostering a culture of scientific excellence
- Manage team priorities, resource allocation, and departmental budgets
- Collaborate cross‑functionally and serve as a technical representative in external meetings when needed
- Deep experience in mammalian expression systems and cell line development for monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins
- Familiarity with CHO, HEK, NS0, and microbial systems (e.g.,
E. coli) - Experience with CHO‑GS systems and difficult‑to‑express proteins preferred
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate complex scientific challenges
- Working knowledge of GMP/ICH guidelines, PAT technologies, and CMC processes
- Proficiency in statistical design and analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Design‑Expert)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Leadership experience with a track record of developing high‑performing teams
