Position SummarySpecial Education Teacher in an inclusive setting. Responsible for planning and implementing differentiated instruction, managing IEP processes, collaborating with teachers and specialists, and ensuring compliance with district policies and state regulations.
Responsibilities- Plan a program of study tailored to individual students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
- Collaborate with grade‑level teachers, other special education teachers, and specialists to provide comprehensive services.
- Promote research‑based strategies to support student transition and generalization of goals.
- Assess student progress toward objectives, provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Serve as contact person for designated caseload, completing paperwork (monitoring, IEPs, progress reports) and managing the Team process.
- Utilize positive behavior intervention systems and classroom management strategies.
- Gather data from multiple sources to guide instruction and lesson planning.
- Maintain accurate records per legal and district requirements.
- Diagnose and address learning challenges, seeking support from specialists.
- Supervise paraprofessionals and coordinate schedules with IEP requirements.
- Participate in teacher evaluation, meetings, and school activities per contract.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities, Pre‑K‑12 OR Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities, All Levels.
- Valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement OR Grade‑level appropriate ESL License.
- Meet all state and federal guidelines for licensure and high qualification.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience in urban, high‑poverty, and/or turnaround schools.
- Major/minor in specific teaching content area.
- Additional certification in Teacher of English Language Learners (ESL).
- Experience with English Language Development (ELD) and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) strategies.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English.
- Knowledge of students with moderate to severe needs.
