Principal Accountabilities

Keep curriculum content current.

Plan and assess curriculum and instruction.

Mentor students’ understanding and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.

Manage the classroom environment effectively.

Provide effective instruction, clearly stating learning goals, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.

Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technology, to increase student learning and confidence.

Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.

Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, ensuring equitable opportunities for all students, including those with special needs, 504 plans, and second language learners.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Collaborate with SPED and ELL specialists to meet specific student needs.

Understand Middle School philosophy and structure of middle school teams.

Maintain data and documentation as appropriate.

Participate in school-wide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching.

Qualifications – Required

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Music (All Levels).
Valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement OR Grade-level appropriate ESL License.
Meet state and federal guidelines for full licensure and Highly Qualified status.
Current authorization to work in the United States – by first day of employment.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Qualifications – Preferred

Experience in urban, high-poverty, and/or turnaround schools.
Major/minor in a specific teaching content area.
Additional certification in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities and/or English Language Learners (ESL).
Demonstrated experience in ELD and SEI strategies.
Bilingual language proficiency (Spanish/English).
