Job DescriptionSouthbridge Public Schools serve approximately 2,200 students across six schools. We are in the midst of a measurable transformation with rapid improvement in secondary schools. The district has experienced notable academic gains, particularly in mathematics, and has been recognized by the University of Connecticut as a PBIS success story. Southbridge Middle School’s culture, climate, and instruction have improved dramatically post‑COVID, and we expect continued academic progress.
We seek a passionate educator who can help build a safe, positive climate, uphold high expectations for behavior and academics, and collaborate as a team with colleagues and specialists to support all students, including those with special needs, 504 plans, and second‑language learners.
Principal Accountabilities- Remain up to date regarding curriculum content.
- Effectively plan and assess curriculum and instruction.
- Mentor students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.
- Manage classroom environment effectively.
- Deliver instruction with clear learning goals, appropriate techniques, and questioning.
- Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technology, to increase learning and confidence.
- Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, ensuring equitable opportunities for all learners, including those with special needs and English language learners.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with SPED and ELL specialists to meet the specific needs of students.
- Prepare students for MCAS.
- Understand the school philosophy and structure of school teams.
- Maintain data and documentation appropriately.
- Participate in school-wide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching.

- Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution. - Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in English Language Learners (ESL) 5-12.
- Valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement or grade‑level appropriate ESL License.
- Meet all state and federal guidelines for full licensing and Highly Qualified status.
- Current authorization to work in the United States; must have authorization by first day of employment.
- Experience in urban, high‑poverty, and/or turnaround schools.
- Major/minor in a specific teaching content area.
- Additional certification in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities or English Language Learners (ESL).
- Demonstrated experience with English Language Development (ELD) and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) strategies.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English.
