Under general supervision and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Mammography Supervisor and the Radiologist, performs Mammography and related clerical service duties.
Major Responsibilities- Operates Mammography Equipment and performs Mammography Exams; makes a psychological and physical assessment of each patient, adjusting procedures as needed to accommodate patient size, age, or condition according to universal protocol and sterile techniques. Demonstrates breast self‑examination if required.
- Records all pertinent breast history from the patient and notes any discomfort or medical complaint that may be important to the Radiologist.
- Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, and safety controls. Accurately documents work in the HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems.
- Assists in other areas/modalities as needed.
- Cleans and maintains all accessory equipment (e.g., paddles, detectors, work area).
- Stays abreast of developments in the field of Mammography and maintains required continuing education units. Responsible for quality control designated by the supervisor.
- Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
- Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
- Demonstrates use of quality improvement in daily operations.
- Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
- Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrating standards of respect and contributing to a professional, tolerant, civil and accepting environment.
- Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Position QualificationsLicense/Certification/
Education:
- Required: Registration in both Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a mammography technologist.
- BLS healthcare provider required before completion of 90‑day probationary period.
Experience/
Skills:
- Required: Level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Preferred: Prior experience in the field.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience providing proficiency in the responsibilities listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
