Job Summary
Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice in the unit IP Adult Acute Care.
Responsibilities- Utilization of the nursing process for the delivery and management of patient care from admission to discharge appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
- Perform patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
- Develop and coordinate individual plan of care including discharge planning.
- Direct, supervise, coordinate and evaluate nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.
- Delegate appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
- Document patient care according to standard procedure.
- Develop, implement/coordinate and document education plan for patient, family, or significant other.
- Ensure quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, therapies and operate equipment according to policy and procedure; assist physicians with treatment and procedures and special tests as required or directed.
- Participate in and support nursing governance activities.
- Assume responsibility for professional growth; assist in education and development of staff.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
- Comply with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
- Attend variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
- Demonstrate use of quality improvement in daily operations.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
- Respect diverse views and approaches, demonstrate standards of respect, and contribute to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.
- Current Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required for all RNs unless Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is current, as well as any unit specific certifications and competencies.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the discipline of nursing.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements when certification, licensure or registration is not required.
Work is considered medium and requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
