Provide security for the safety and protection of Hospitals patients, staff, general public, and properties. Patrol buildings and grounds of Hospital periodically. Examine doors, windows, and other points of entry to determine that they are secure. Tag and record all points of entry found unlocked or unsecured. Warn violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts, in accordance with applicable laws.
Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked. Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of Hospital property. Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and other acts of suspicious instances. Record all incidents in writing or electronic media. Assist local authorities with investigation of incidents committed on Hospital properties.
Report all criminal acts to the appropriate Security Leadership and or local authorities. Assist Hospital staff as required providing protection and safety to patients or other individuals. Adhere to all general orders and or special orders as directed.
License/Certification/
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Obtain and satisfactorily complete the initial 8‑hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews and any other training as may be occasionally mandated.
- Obtain and satisfactorily complete annual (or biannual as applicable) re‑certifications in CPR, Fit testing for Tuberculosis Respirator Masks, Hazard Communication Program, Annual Fire Suppression and Hazard Recognition Training, Annual Self Defense and Management of Violent Situations Training, Annual Training and physical completion for the Emergency Response Team, and other training as may be determined by the Supervisor of Public Safety.
- Avade 2 (restraint) training completion required within 6 months of hire into role.
Experience/
Skills:
- Three years related experience and/or training in public safety.
