This position may have a signing bonus available; a member of the Recruitment Team will confirm eligibility during the interview process.

• Provide security for safety and protection of Hospital patients, staff, general public, and properties.
• Periodic patrols of buildings and grounds.
• Examine doors, windows, and other points of entry to determine security.
• Tag and record all points of entry found unlocked or unsecured.
• Warn violators of rule infractions and apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
• Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of Hospital property.
• Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and other acts of suspicious instances.
• Assist local authorities with investigation of incidents on Hospital properties.
• Report all criminal acts to the appropriate Security Leadership and/or local authorities.
• Assist Hospital staff as required, providing protection and safety to patients or other individuals.
• Adhere to all general orders and/or special orders as directed.

• Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
• Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
• Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
• Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
• Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
• Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

All responsibilities are essential job functions.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Obtain and satisfactorily complete the initial 8-hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews and any other training as may be occasionally mandated.
• Obtain and satisfactorily complete annual (or biannual as applicable) re-certifications in CPR, Fit testing for Tuberculosis Respirator Masks, Hazard Communication Program, Annual Fire Suppression and Hazard Recognition Training, Annual Self Defense and Management of Violent Situations Training, Annual Training and physical completion for the Emergency Response Team, and other training as may be determined by the Supervisor of Public Safety.
• Avade 2 (restraint) training completion required within 6 months of hire into role.

• Three years related experience and/or training in public safety.
• Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

• Must be able to run, stoop, crawl, climb stairs, carry another human being, and stand for long periods of time without any physical limitations and during all kinds of weather conditions.
• Must be familiar with and possess the ability (manual dexterity) to operate a public safety vehicle, emergency lights, public safety radios, radio scanners, telephones, MDT, etc.
• Must possess the ability to drive a public safety vehicle and speak on the radio at the same time, and ensure that public safety officers and trainees assigned to his/her shift are likewise proficient.

• Valid Driver's License required.
• Successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior within 30 days of hire required.
• CPR certification not required.
• Avade not required.
• 1 year related experience and/or training in public safety.
