Position Overview

Hiring Range: $17.36 - $31.26 (final offer may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.)

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, ; 1 Day Shift, 8 Hours; 40 hours per week.

Cost Center: 25080 - 5170 Public Safety

A signing bonus may be available; eligibility will be confirmed during the interview process.

• Provide security for the safety and protection of hospital patients, staff, general public, and properties.
• Conduct periodic patrols of hospital buildings and grounds.
• Examine doors, windows, and other points of entry to ensure they are secure.
• Tag and record all points of entry found unlocked or unsecured.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts in accordance with applicable laws.
• Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
• Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of hospital property.
• Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and other suspicious incidents.
• Record all incidents in writing or electronic media.
• Assist local authorities in investigating incidents on hospital properties.
• Report all criminal acts to the appropriate security leadership or local authorities.
• Assist hospital staff as required, providing protection and safety to patients or other individuals.
• Adhere to all general orders and special orders as directed.

License/Certification/Education (Required):

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Completion of initial 8‑hour hospital orientation program and annual competency reviews, plus any other mandatory training.
• Annual or biannual recertifications in CPR, fit testing for tuberculosis respirator masks, hazard communication, annual fire suppression and hazard recognition, annual self‑defense and management of violent situations, annual training for emergency response team, and other training as determined by the supervisor of public safety.
• AVADE 2 (restraint) training completion within 6 months of hire.

Experience/Skills (Required):

• Three years of related experience and/or training in public safety.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide proficiency may be substituted.

Department‑specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual department, and managers will review them with incumbents.

• Ability to run, stoop, crawl, climb stairs, carry another human being, and stand for long periods without physical limitations, in all weather conditions.
• Manual dexterity required to operate a public safety vehicle, emergency lights, radios, radio scanners, telephones, MDT, etc.
• Ability to drive a public safety vehicle and communicate on the radio simultaneously with proficiency for self and trainees.
