Position: Public Safety Officer, Harrington Hospital Southbridge Campus - 24 Hours, Days

Hiring Range: $17.36 - $31.26 (final offer may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations)

Responsibilities
Provide security for the safety and protection of hospital patients, staff, general public, and properties. Periodically patrol buildings and grounds. Examine doors, windows, and other points of entry to ensure they are secure, tag and record all unlocked or unsecured points, warn violators, and apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts in accordance with applicable laws. Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unsecured doors.
Observe departing personnel to guard against theft. Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and other suspicious incidents. Assist local authorities with investigations and report all criminal acts to Security Leadership and/or local authorities. Provide protection and safety to patients or other individuals as required.
Major Responsibilities
Participate in the hospital emergency room programs.Effectively handle a wide range of public safety issues and a variety of changing situations.Interpret and understand written and oral instructions.Apply common sense to instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.Cooperate with law enforcement agencies in line with the hospital's legal obligations.Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities
Comply with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.Demonstrate use of quality improvement in daily operations.Comply with all health and safety regulations and requirements.Respect diverse views, contribute to an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance.Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.Position Qualifications License / Certification / Education
High school diploma or GED required.Complete the initial 8‑hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews.Complete annual or biannual re‑certifications in CPR, TB Respirator Mask fit testing, Hazard Communication Program, Fire Suppression and Hazard Recognition Training, Self‑Defense and Management of Violent Situations Training, Emergency Response Team training, and other training as determined by the supervisor.Complete Avade 2 (restraint) training within 6 months of hire.Experience / Skills
Three years of related public safety experience and/or training.All responsibilities are essential job functions.
