Job Title: Social Worker - Family Support & Protection
Employer: Southend-on-Sea City Council
Location: Civic Centre, Southend-on-Sea (Hybrid: minimum 2 days on-site per week)
Salary: £39,152 - £45,091 D.O.E
Incentive: One‑off payment of £7,500 after 3 years and 1 day in post + £8,000 Relocation package

Southend‑on‑Sea City Council is seeking a Social Worker to join the Family Support & Protection Team
.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of approximately 12 children and young people requiring long‑term social work intervention.
- Working with children subject to child protection plans, complex child in need cases, and Pre‑Proceedings/PLO cases.
- Acting as the duty worker, responding to queries and issues across the team's caseload.
- Preparing reports, statements, and care plans for Family, County, and High Courts.
- Conducting thorough assessments and analyses to produce clear, evidence‑based action plans.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with children and families to improve outcomes.
- Engaging in structured supervision, professional development, and team‑led initiatives.
Hybrid working is available, with a requirement to be on‑site at the Civic Centre at least 2 days per week
.
Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England
. - Have completed their ASYE
. - Possess experience in Children's Frontline Services
, including child protection, looked‑after children, and child in need practice. - Demonstrate knowledge and application of Restorative Practice in social work.
- Have a sound understanding of relevant legislation, guidance, and policy frameworks.
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
