This is a hands-on role where you'll lead shifts, support staff and continue to work directly with children, helping create a safe, welcoming and positive home where they can thrive.
The Role
Working alongside the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, you'll help maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance across the home.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and managing shifts, allocating work and supporting the wider care team
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Supporting the development, review and implementation of individual care plans
Providing guidance and supervision to Residential Support Workers
Supporting young people during challenging situations or periods of crisis
Maintaining accurate records, incident reports and safeguarding documentation
Building positive relationships with families, social workers, schools and other professionals
Ensuring policies, risk assessments and Children's Homes Regulations are followed
Supporting staff training, development and professional standards
Taking part in the management on-call rota when required
About You
You'll need:
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
At least 2 years' experience within residential childcare
Knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015
Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence managing challenging situations and supporting positive behaviour
A strong commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people
Flexibility to work days, evenings, waking nights and sleep-ins
Experience working at senior level within residential childcare would be an advantage.
What's Next?
If you're ready to take on more responsibility while still making a direct difference to children and young people, apply today and take the next step in your residential childcare career.
This role is subject to appropriate safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
