Experience Qualification: Construction work experience with a basic understanding of construction methods. Experience inspecting similar projects in federal, municipal, transportation, ports, or marina sectors.
Responsibilities- Provide on-site inspection and quality assurance for roadway and structure construction projects, ensuring conformance to plans, contracts, and specifications.
- Perform work of basic to moderate difficulty, including testing, measurements, and documentation.
- Maintain project records, including daily diaries, photos, inspection reports, and monthly estimates.
- Assist in training and oversight of trainees.
- Ensure safety standards in work zones and traffic control setups.
- Utilize electronic project management software and track materials accurately.
- Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders.
- Perform administrative duties such as timesheets and expense reports.
- High school diploma or GED.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification (must obtain within 3 months if not already certified).
- Knowledge of basic mathematics, construction materials, methods, and tools.
- Relevant training or experience in road/bridge construction, civil engineering, or project management.
- Certifications preferred: NCDOT Concrete, QMS Roadway, Density, Erosion and Sediment Control, etc.
- Level II-IV technicians require 4-7 years of relevant experience, with increasing responsibilities.
- Ability to carry out inspection tasks and document progress.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, internet, and construction management systems.
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications, apply mathematical and engineering principles, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to use surveying tools and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly.
Work is supervised but increasingly independent as skills develop. Must pass background and DMV checks, and have safety shoes. No supervisory responsibilities.
