Military Fellowship Program: Software Engineer

Overview

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as Skill Bridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.

SNC's TRAX software plays an integral part in bridging battlefield communication gaps for Military and Coalition Partners, effectively eliminating proprietary interfaces and protocols, allowing commanders to receive a sound common operating picture of their battle space. This position will work as part of a larger Agile software development team to rapidly provide operational capabilities to the field. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn‑key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide.

• Works as part of a larger Agile software development team to rapidly provide operational capabilities to the field.
• Develops software that is heavily used DoD wide and by US Special Operations Forces (SOF) with a high demand for additional features.
• Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
• Defines software and/or system architecture, designs software modules, and produces associated documentation per corporate or customer standards.
• Ensures software standards are met.
• Writes and tests software modules and integrates with other software and/or hardware components.

• Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD Skill Bridge program.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline, and typically 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Engineering tools.
• Conceptual understanding of engineering principles and practices.
• Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

• Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash.
• Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall and Spiral.
• Familiarity with data structures.

Minimum application period: 5 days; may be extended based on business needs.
