Accountant - Project Cost Accounting

Our Plante Moran Realpoint team is seeking an experienced Project Cost Accountant to record, report and track real‑time costs for our construction projects.

• Reconcile and balance project‑related accounts, develop cash flow and cost‑to‑complete reports.
• Verify change orders and payment requests against contract requirements.
• Track essential project documentation, such as bonds and insurance certificates.
• Review and apply contract requirements.
• Monitor engagement hours and costs to identify trends and support engagement forecasting.
• Maintain the project’s PMIS (e.g., e‑Builder) to enable internal and external clients to monitor project status and financials.
• Document accounting processes and procedures, as well as project governance.
• Review AIA payment applications.
• Track project budgets against actuals.
• Engage and collaborate with the client and project team to identify and resolve issues.
• Periodically visit project and client sites to provide client updates.

• Bachelor's degree in Business administration (preferably accounting)
• 3+ years accounting experience including budgeting and cash flow management
• Industry experience with commercial real estate is highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability for:
  • Numeric analysis
  • Contract comprehension
  • Issue resolution
  • Collaboration in a team environment

This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40‑hour work week.
