Customs Compliance Analyst – Classification

Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Refunds and Reconciliations, this position assists on compliance projects for a major client. This individual will provide classification of goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, along with supporting Drawback projects, Audit projects, and other compliance activities as deemed necessary. The role requires professional communication with clients, suppliers, and government representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handles complex tariff classification determinations, reviews, and opinions
  • Application for customs rulings in complex tariffs, origin, and valuation
  • Assistance on FTA projects, audit, and verification programs
  • Utilizing internal/external software for organization and reporting
  • Assist in drafting compliance processes and related work instructions
  • Provides broker and client assistance with anti-dumping and countervailing duty assessment
  • Strong customer service connecting with significant business partners on Customs compliance issues

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • US Customs broker’s license and/or CCS designation considered a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel and Access (preferred)
  • Classification experience preferred but not required
  • Self-motivated with good organizational and decision-making skills
  • Professional and articulate communication abilities, above-average written communication abilities; mature demeanor
  • Good research and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, research, and analytical skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
