Multi-Skilled Producer; per diem

Overview and responsibilities

CBS News Detroit is looking for a bold and innovative producer who wants to become a leader. The candidate should thrive as an authority in the booth, let content decide the format, understand top story treatment, and excel at urgent production style and conversational writing. This is a per‑dimen position.

We’ll be looking for someone who can lead all aspects of newscast production, assist with digital, social, and breaking‑news coverage, and shift could include mornings.

• Originate, research, lead, write, produce, and edit news segments for television and digital platforms.
• Collaborate with CBS Detroit’s team to ensure seamless coordination and execution of news.
• Work both in the control room, demonstrating adaptability and composure in fast‑paced situations.
• Flourishes with change and innovation, constantly seeking new ideas and approaches to connect with our audience.
• Assist in the station's goal of growing digital‑first content.
• Uphold impeccable grammar, spelling, and attention to detail in all content produced.
• Exhibit strong editorial judgment, effective communication, and critical‑thinking skills.
• Other duties as assigned.

• 2+ years of experience as a line producer.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in broadcast journalism or related field preferred.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including overnight schedules, holidays, weekends.
• Must be a team player and able to work under deadlines and multi‑task.
