ckingknowledge Institute (Startup Environment)

Role Overview

The Engineering Teacher delivers hands‑on robotics and coding instruction to students using the curriculum provided by ckingknowledge Institute. This role develops students’ technical abilities while strengthening confidence, agency, teamwork, creativity, emotional resilience, and structured problem‑solving skills.

This position begins as a volunteer role and transitions to a paid role once sufficient revenue is generated.

Target Pay: $55 per hour

Long‑Term Outlook:
Expected to become full‑time as revenue increases.

Startup Environment Expectations
  • No reminders are provided to complete work. Individuals must be self‑motivated, execute work without supervision, and communicate immediately if expectations or timelines change.
  • Functions and processes are not yet documented. Each team member is expected to:
    • Document the procedures and steps they use to perform their role
    • Ensure work can be repeated consistently at a high level of quality
    • Continuously improve and evolve documentation
    • Create materials that can be used to train future team members or successors
    • Integrity, accountability, and proactive communication are essential.

Days:
Monday through Thursday;
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM;
Courses:
Robots & Coding 1 and Robots & Coding 2 (ongoing cohorts)

Community Partner

Location:

Day:
Monday;
Time: 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM;
Course Structure:
Robots & Coding 1 — 6 weeks;
Robots & Coding 2 — 6 weeks;
Total 12‑week instructional cycle

Responsibilities
  • Instruct students using the ckingknowledge Institute curriculum.
  • Teach robotics, engineering, and programming concepts through hands‑on learning.
  • Deliver structured lessons aligned with Robots & Coding 1 and 2.
  • Provide guidance and support as students design, build, and program robots.
  • Assist students in developing problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Encourage creativity during brainstorming and design sessions.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and sportsmanship.
  • Facilitate discussions and structured peer learning.
  • Foster confidence, agency, and emotional resilience.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom management standards.
Onboarding & Teaching Progression
  • Complete Robots & Coding 1 and Robots & Coding 2 as a student.
  • Obtain Robotics Coach Certification through the REC Foundation.
  • Shadow existing Engineering Teachers.
  • Begin teaching independently while supervised by a Senior Engineering Teacher.
Required Qualifications
  • Genuine passion for STEM education, particularly robotics and engineering.
  • At least one year of experience teaching middle school‑aged students.
  • Experience teaching technical content (math, science, engineering, etc.).
  • Experience with VEX IQ robotics or similar platforms (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and ability to motivate young learners.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision or reminders.
  • Background check required.
Compensation Structure
  • Volunteer role initially.
  • Becomes paid once revenue is sufficient.
  • Target pay: $55 per hour.
  • Expected to become full‑time as revenue increases.
