We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to support manufacturing quality across casting and machining operations. This role will focus on driving defect reduction, leading root cause analysis, and ensuring compliance with automotive quality standards while supporting both production and new program launches.
Key Responsibilities- Support plant quality initiatives across casting, machining, and assembly operations
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions for internal and customer quality issues
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on scrap reduction, rework, and process capability
- Partner with manufacturing and process engineering teams to improve product and process quality
- Support APQP activities, including PPAP submissions, control plans, and FMEA development
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics, identifying trends and driving corrective actions
- Interface directly with customers on quality concerns, containment actions, and resolution plans
- Support supplier quality activities, including issue resolution and performance improvement
- Conduct layered process audits and ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and internal quality systems
- Assist in new product launches to ensure quality standards are defined, validated, and achieved
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 3 or more years of experience in automotive manufacturing quality
- Experience with casting, machining, or metal components such as aluminum, iron, or magnesium preferred
- Strong understanding of automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
- Experience with core quality tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA
- Familiarity with GD&T and blueprint reading
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in structured methodologies such as 8D and root cause analysis
- Hands-on, floor-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with production teams
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality in safety-critical applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with customers and cross-functional teams
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze trends and drive improvements
