Job Description
As a member of the JIT/Seat Complete engineering team, the Product Engineer II will be responsible for managing integration of seat components into a seat and vehicle system during all phases of development. Utilizes knowledge of engineering theory, material science, manufacturing processes, to design products to meet manufacturing plant capabilities and customer specifications.
Responsibilities- Lead customer technical interface.
- Responsible for working with other cross functional teams to coordinate CAD, CAE, tooling, and design for manufacturing and assembly.
- Addresses problems using engineered solutions (FEA, DFM, DFMEA, design analysis, calculations, design review, etc.).
- Ability to guide a team of supporting product engineers.
- Ability to identify processes needing improvement, and to drive improvements.
- BSME/BSEE degree or equivalent. Advanced engineering, technical, or business degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working with automotive OEM’s, preferably in automotive seating.
- Demonstrated success with developing and launching seating programs from concept to launch.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills. Application of DFSS and Shanin techniques to root cause issues.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines.
- Ability to perform and/or manage complex design analysis tasks.
- Development of seat complete DVP&R.
- Lead interface with Stellantis customer engineering team, Lear plants, and Lear internal engineering teams, reporting to the Manager of Engineering-JIT.
- Design and integration and release of foam, trim, plastics, structures, and other non-JIT components into the final seat complete assembly.
- Ensures global best practices are being followed.
- Proficient in GD&T, DFSS, DFMEA, and DFA/DFM.
- Proficient in FMVSS and ECE specifications.
- Local, regional, and international travel required depending on program mix and time of development cycle.
- Experience working for or with Ford or other NA OEMs.
