Job Description
As a member of the JIT/Seat Complete engineering team, the Product Engineer II will be responsible for managing integration of seat components into a seat and vehicle system during all phases of development. Utilizes knowledge of engineering theory, material science, and manufacturing processes to design products that meet manufacturing plant capabilities and customer specifications.
Responsibilities- Lead customer technical interface.
- Coordinate CAD, CAE, tooling, and design for manufacturing and assembly with cross‑functional teams.
- Address problems using engineered solutions such as FEA, DFM, DFMEA, design analysis, calculations, and design review.
- Guide a team of supporting product engineers.
- Identify processes needing improvement and drive improvements.
- Be creative, independent, and self‑motivated.
- Exposure to products or executive leadership teams.
- BSME/BSEE degree or equivalent; advanced engineering, technical, or business degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working with automotive OEMs, preferably in automotive seating.
- Demonstrated success with developing and launching seating programs from concept to launch.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem‑solving skills; application of DFSS and Shanin techniques to root‑cause issues.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with awareness of deadlines.
- Ability to perform and/or manage complex design analysis tasks.
- Experience developing seat complete DVP & R.
- Lead interface with Stellantis customer engineering team, Lear plants, and Lear internal engineering teams, reporting to the Manager of Engineering‑JIT.
- Design, integration, and release of foam, trim, plastics, structures, and other non‑JIT components into the final seat complete assembly.
- Ensure global best practices are being followed.
- Proficient in GD&T, DFSS, DFMEA, and DFA/DFM.
- Proficient in FMVSS and ECE specifications.
- Local, regional, and international travel required depending on program mix and development cycle.
- Experience working for or with Ford or other NA OEMs.
