Product Engineer - Seat Complete

Job Description

As a member of the JIT/Seat Complete engineering team, the Product Engineer II will be responsible for managing integration of seat components into a seat and vehicle system during all phases of development. Utilizes knowledge of engineering theory, material science, and manufacturing processes to design products that meet manufacturing plant capabilities and customer specifications.

• Lead customer technical interface.
• Coordinate CAD, CAE, tooling, and design for manufacturing and assembly with cross‑functional teams.
• Address problems using engineered solutions such as FEA, DFM, DFMEA, design analysis, calculations, and design review.
• Guide a team of supporting product engineers.
• Identify processes needing improvement and drive improvements.

• Be creative, independent, and self‑motivated.
• Exposure to products or executive leadership teams.

• BSME/BSEE degree or equivalent; advanced engineering, technical, or business degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience working with automotive OEMs, preferably in automotive seating.
• Demonstrated success with developing and launching seating programs from concept to launch.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and problem‑solving skills; application of DFSS and Shanin techniques to root‑cause issues.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with awareness of deadlines.
• Ability to perform and/or manage complex design analysis tasks.
• Experience developing seat complete DVP & R.
• Lead interface with Stellantis customer engineering team, Lear plants, and Lear internal engineering teams, reporting to the Manager of Engineering‑JIT.
• Design, integration, and release of foam, trim, plastics, structures, and other non‑JIT components into the final seat complete assembly.
• Ensure global best practices are being followed.
• Proficient in GD&T, DFSS, DFMEA, and DFA/DFM.
• Proficient in FMVSS and ECE specifications.
• Local, regional, and international travel required depending on program mix and development cycle.

• Experience working for or with Ford or other NA OEMs.
