Design Engineer 5 – Interiors
Location – Southfield MI and Casa Grande AZ Duration – 12+ months (Possible Extension) Pay Range - $99 - $101/hr on W2 Shift – Mon – Fri 8.00 AM – 5.00 PM

Required:
4+ overall years of experience in the field. - Degrees or certifications required:
Bachelor's degree is required to be eligible for this role.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a detail-oriented Interior Components and Systems development lead (e.g., hard trim, soft trim, IP, door trims, consoles, headliners, etc.)
- Minimum 4 years of knowledge and understanding of automotive interior components and systems, industry benchmarks, trends, and supplier capabilities
- Minimum 4 years’ experience creating, improving, or establishing technical product specifications and timelines to support accelerated development toward SOP
- Be a significant contributor to a world-class Interior Components and Systems engineering team.
- Create industry-leading Interior Components and Systems with groundbreaking luxury, craftsmanship, performance, safety, ergonomics, and functionality.
- Contribute to the packaging, engineering, release, and launch of Interior Components and Systems across the portfolio.
- Work collaboratively within a cross-functional marketing, design, and vehicle engineering team, prioritizing overall vehicle benefit above individual systems.
- Collaborate with interior trim suppliers to ensure technical excellence and on-time delivery of Interior Components and Systems.
- Employ and develop effective tools and innovative approaches to support product development.
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience as a detail-oriented Interior Components and Systems development lead (e.g., hard trim, soft trim, IP, door trims, consoles, headliners, etc.).
- Knowledge and understanding of automotive interior components and systems, industry benchmarks, trends, and supplier capabilities.
- Experience creating, improving, or establishing technical product specifications and timelines to support accelerated development toward SOP.
- Proficiency in CAD for 2D/3D concept drawings, interior components and systems, packaging layouts, and DFM studies (CATIA V5/V6 preferred).
- Vehicle and product launch experience.
- Flexibility and adaptability to succeed in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience completing one full program cycle from concept to production launch in automotive interior components and systems
- Profound knowledge of vehicle interior systems with a demonstrable track record of technical excellence and program execution
- Strong understanding of plastic part design, structural performance, manufacturing technologies, craftsmanship, ergonomics, safety, and homologation requirements
- Competency in materials selection, plastic injection molding/DFM, and GD&T
- A strong desire to create exceptional products as part of a highly capable team
- A practical, hands-on approach that complements theoretical knowledge
- Exceptional technical abilities paired with excellent communication skills
