QA/QE/QC Project Engineer (MEP Focus)
General Contractor (GC) Side – Mission Critical MEP Position Type:
Full-time
We are seeking an on-site QA/QE/QC Construction Project Engineer (MEP Focus) to oversee the complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection infrastructure of a Large Construction Project. Representing the GC, you will ensure trade partners install MEP systems to exact tolerances. You will combine field inspections (QC) with digital model validation (QE) to guarantee that power, cooling, and containment systems are flawless and ready for Level 1–Level 5 commissioning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- MEP Trade Accountability:
Support pre-installation meetings with mechanical, electrical, and controls subcontractors to establish standards for conduit runs, piping welds, and duct cleanliness. - BIM & Model Validation:
Review drawings (Navisworks and Autodesk) via digital field verifications, ensuring physical MEP routing perfectly matches the coordinated 3D model and respects clearance zones. - Critical Equipment Receiving:
Perform stringent Quality Receiving Inspections on major GC-procured assets (e.g., chillers, generators, UPS modules, CRAH units) to document and reject any transit or factory damage. - System Testing & Inspection:
Witness and document critical subcontractor testing, including pipe pressure tests, duct leakage testing, electrical megger testing, and infrared scans. - Commissioning Handoff:
Systematically track and compile Level 1 (Factory) through Level 3 (Pre-functional) Quality assurance documentation to hand over clean systems to the dedicated Commissioning team. - NCR Tracking:
Monitor and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for deficient trade work, ensuring electrical and mechanical defects are remediated before walls are closed or systems are energized. - Ability to work on-site at the construction site in Romulus, MI.
- Degree:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management. - Experience:
2–5 years of GC experience managing MEP scopes on high-tech, data center, hospital, or industrial projects. - Technical
Skills:
Familiar with Procore or Autodesk, knowledge of Navisworks and Bluebeam is a big plus.
