Now Hiring: Design Engineer
Location: Southfield, MI
Pay: Up to $43.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite (40 hours/week with potential overtime)
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to support the development of innovative vehicle accessory products from concept through production. This position offers the opportunity to manage product development projects while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and supplier teams.
Job Responsibilities- Design and develop automotive accessory products and interior components.
- Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, validation plans, and product documentation.
- Manage products throughout the full development lifecycle, from concept through production launch.
- Support supplier selection, feasibility reviews, tooling discussions, and product sourcing activities.
- Coordinate prototype builds, testing, validation, and launch readiness activities.
- Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and issue resolution initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, functionality, and manufacturability.
- Support engineering milestones and successful product launches.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of automotive product development experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing and launching automotive interior components or accessories.
- Proficiency with CATIA V5/V6 or comparable CAD software.
- Experience with engineering documentation, validation, and product release processes.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and supplier management skills.
- Experience supporting multiple vehicle launches from concept to production.
- Knowledge of APQP, GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack-up analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Experience working with premium consumer or automotive products.
- Ability to lead projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
