Controller; Corporate – Multi-Unit Restaurant Group

Overview

The Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of Big Boy Restaurant Group’s accounting operations and financial reporting across a multi-site restaurant environment. This role provides hands-on leadership for the monthly close, internal controls, multi-entity reporting, and operational finance partnership—bringing structure, accountability, and strategic oversight to the department. The Controller will play a central role in leveraging Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as the company’s core ERP system.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Ensure accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain general ledger integrity and documentation
• Establish and enforce internal controls across corporate and restaurant operations
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations and audit readiness
• Partner with leadership to mitigate financial risk
• Multi-Unit Operational Finance
  • Partner with Operations on unit-level profitability and cost controls
  • Deliver budget-to-actual analysis and performance reporting
  • Support new store openings and operational initiatives
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategy
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Provide scenario analysis and strategic recommendations
  • Support pricing, labor modeling, and vendor analysis
  • Lead and develop accounting staff
  • Establish workflows, accountability, and cross-training
  • Promote a culture of accuracy and ownership
• Systems & Process Improvement
  • Serve as finance systems leader for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Optimize integrations, reporting, and controls
  • Drive automation and scalability
• External Relationships
  • Coordinate audits and tax compliance
  • Support banking and lender reporting

• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Strong GAAP, reporting, and internal controls expertise
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
