Your Role
- Serve as the primary resource overseeing advanced trust tax operations for Plante Moran Trust (PMT) tax work, including 1041 compliance, review of trust distributions and funding, and tax planning.
- Manage and implement PMT tax requirements, including RMDs and 1099 reporting, to ensure full compliance with IRS regulations.
- Lead and develop team members, supervising and training staff and interns assigned to engagements.
- Maintain accountability for all assigned projects, demonstrating ownership of progress and ensuring timely client deliverables and adherence to statutory filing deadlines.
- Engage actively with the Plante Moran Trust team through participation in team meetings, committees, and training initiatives for the trust team.
- Effectively leverage available technology and other resources to maximize technical application to project, holding the engagement team to the same standard.
This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40‑hour work week.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA required.
- 8–10 years of specialized trust tax expertise, including complex compliance and reporting requirements.
- Ability to manage high‑complexity tax and trust tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Flexible to work across PMT and broader firm needs, collaborating with wealth management tax/trust teams and estate tax reviews.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising and mentoring team members.
- Capacity to manage peak workloads during tax season, with potential involvement in off‑season engagements and ongoing PMT data/transaction administration with external vendors and special projects.
- Position will be filled at Manager or Senior Manager level.
