The Mortgage Loan Trainee role is a full-time, on-site position based in Southfield, MI. In this role, the trainee will support loan officers and processing staff by assisting with gathering borrower documentation, verifying information, and preparing files for underwriting. Daily activities include learning loan products and guidelines, entering and updating data in loan origination systems, and helping track files through each stage of the mortgage process.
The trainee will interact with customers by answering basic questions, providing status updates, and ensuring a positive and professional experience. Under the guidance of senior team members, the trainee will gradually develop skills in mortgage lending, compliance, and mortgage marketing to support business growth.
- Foundational knowledge or strong interest in Mortgages, Mortgage Lending, and basic Finance concepts.
- Commitment to delivering responsive, professional Customer Service in person, over the phone, and in writing.
- Interest or experience in Mortgage Marketing, including outreach, lead follow-up, and promoting loan programs under supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy when handling borrower information and documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and respectfully.
- Ability to learn quickly, follow procedures, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, document management); familiarity with loan systems is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or a degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
