Personal Financial Counselor; Counselor, PFC, Southfield, MI

Job Overview

This position will provide coverage in short‑term, surge and on‑demand situations resulting from Military needs such as post‑deployment events or to cover existing assignments for counselors who are absent. The counselor delivers the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations. Services include one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, referral resources, and virtual counseling via secure online chat or video exchanges.

The role also establishes spending plans for extended absences, develops informational financial materials, coordinates and publicizes a variety of personal financial management classes and workshops across the military lifecycle, responds to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars, manages duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol, and participates in regular supervision, training, quality‑improvement committees, and other contract activities. All other duties are assigned as needed.

• Bachelor's degree required (associate degree +4 years experience or high‑school diploma +6 years experience may be considered).
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English; bilingual in English/Spanish may be required by contract.
• Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Minimum: $58,440. Salary Maximum: $93,500. This position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package covering health, life, voluntary and other benefits that enhance physical, mental, emotional and financial wellbeing.
