About Pharmacy Medication

This role is responsible for professional support of medication use and drug information activities across Corewell Health, collaborating with pharmacy and non-pharmacy personnel to achieve clinical and corporate objectives. Key responsibilities include supporting system drug shortage and formulary management, facilitating Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee initiatives, policy management, quality and safety project coordination, financial stewardship, and educational programs. This position incorporates a clinical staffing component as well as resident/student precepting, to foster the connection to patient care and advancing the profession.

of Work

The Medication Use Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for providing professional support for medication use and drug information activities across Corewell Health. This hybrid position will be part of the system Medication Use and Medication Safety team. The specialist will support system formulary management, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities, system policy management, system quality and safety project coordination, system financial stewardship activities, and system educational programs.

This will be accomplished through collaboration, coordination and communication with the pharmacy leaders, system quality, safety and clinical leaders, pharmacists, medical staff, information technologists and other healthcare workers. The goals of the system team are to optimize patient care through evidence-based formulary management, aligned system pharmacy policies and protocols, coordinated safety and quality activities, and continual learning.

Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s Degree Pharm.

    D. or Bachelor degree in pharmacy.
  • Preferred:
    Residency training, PGY1 or PGY2 Residency.
  • 3 years of relevant experience; 3 years as a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy residency/fellowship preferred. In absence of residency training, candidates with demonstrated superior knowledge (board certification, considerable practical clinical experience, etc.) in area of focus may be considered.
  • Licensure:
    Clinical Pharmacist - State of Michigan or eligible to obtain upon hire;
    Pharmacist Controlled Substance - State of Michigan or eligible to obtain upon hire.
  • Certifications:

    CRT‑Immunization Certification (APhA) – 180 days required; CRT‑Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross – 180 days required.
  • Additional Preferred:
    Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BC‑PS) – ASHP or BPS;
    Ideal candidate possesses 2‑3 years of clinical, operational, or inpatient pharmacy experience, with involvement in committees and project work.
  • Ideal candidate:
    Collaborative, organized, self‑motivated, focused on quality/safety, excellent active listening skills.
  • Schedule:

    Monday through Friday, generally 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., hybrid (≈40% on‑site / 60% remote), 0.2 staffing hours per pay period at one site.
