Position Overview
The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for administering and applying Title IV-E federal eligibility requirements for children placed in out-of-home care settings. This role supports compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations by completing accurate and timely eligibility determinations and maintaining required documentation.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, adaptable to regulatory changes, and capable of managing a revolving caseload while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete timely Initial and Six-Month Title IV-E eligibility recommendations in compliance with federal, state, and tribal specifications.
- Request, track, and follow up on missing or additional documentation from counties and tribal agencies.
- Maintain accurate electronic IV-E eligibility files, including court orders, eligibility forms, financial documentation, and supporting records.
- Analyze data from multiple systems to determine compliance with federal and state Title IV-E requirements.
- Enter eligibility information into the State eWiSACWIS reporting system.
- Provide professional customer service to State and county agencies via phone and email.
- Assist with Adoption Assistance and Subsidized Guardianship Title IV-E recommendations.
- Support additional IV-E-related projects and initiatives as assigned by supervisor.
- Complete Initial Recommendations promptly upon receipt from Quality Assurance staff.
- Complete Six-Month Recommendations within required timelines.
- After full training, process an average of 4-6 cases per day.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and productive team environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to evolving policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, public officials, and external agencies.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload effectively.
- Ability to attend in-person meetings as required.
