Orion Solutions Group is partnering with a fast-growing, highly successful company in the Detroit area to find a Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will serve as a payroll subject matter expert, managing all aspects of payroll preparation, submission, distribution, and reporting. You’ll ensure payroll data is accurate and confidential, produce both regular and ad‑hoc reports, support managers with payroll-related questions, and assist employees with routine inquiries.

- Process and audit payroll for approximately 4,000 employees bi‑weekly, ensuring compliance with SOX and internal controls.
- Manage the time and attendance system, assisting managers and employees with issues and ensuring timely submissions.
- Analyze payroll and HRIS processes to identify improvements and recommend efficiencies.
- Coordinate special payroll items, including bonuses, commissions, deductions, and 401(k) contributions and loans.
- Serve as liaison with payroll vendors and government agencies to resolve issues and ensure accurate filings.
- Prepare, update, and distribute payroll reports and respond to internal and external data requests, including employment verifications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Prior experience with SAP Success Factors Employee Central Payroll or SAP Payroll.
- Exposure to Workforce Software Time & Attendance Management.
- Experience with a multi‑departmental, multi‑state employer with at least 500 employees.
- Knowledge of state payroll tax laws.
- Strong understanding of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), system applications, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
