The opportunityWe currently have an opportunity for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Surety team based in our Southfield, MI office on a hybrid schedule. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, wants to deepen their Power BI expertise, and cares about creating analytics that are not only accurate and performant, but also intuitive and well-designed. You’ll work on meaningful projects used by business leaders, learn modern BI best practices, and be supported by experienced teammates who care about quality, performance, thoughtful design, and continuous improvement.
Our Business Intelligence department operates at the forefront of reporting and analytics technology within a rapidly expanding global surety industry. We invest heavily in modern platforms, strong architecture, and scalable solutions that set the standard for how data is modeled, governed, and delivered.
Responsibilities- Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical BI solutions.
- Create clear, intuitive dashboards that balance business usability with technical rigor.
- Identify and troubleshoot data quality or logic issues that impact reporting.
- Design and maintain scalable Power BI data models that support enterprise reporting.
- Apply strong UI/UX principles to ensure reports are visually consistent, accessible, and easy to navigate.
- Build and optimize DAX measures, including time intelligence and more advanced calculations.
- Develop Power Query transformations to stage, cleanse, and shape data efficiently.
- Apply and help evolve governance standards (security, deployment pipelines, certified datasets).
- Collaborate with other BI developers through reviews and shared best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3–5 years of experience in business intelligence or analytics.
- Strong hands‑on Power BI experience (semantic modeling, DAX, Power Query).
- Comfort working with SQL and enterprise data sources.
- Experience supporting production BI content with a focus on reliability and performance.
- Ability to communicate trade‑offs, assumptions, and definitions clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $78,000 - $109,000 based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA;
Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $98,000 - $114,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
